My name is Mike Wisniowski, and I have been a fitness professional for over four years and an educator for over six. I consider fitness and wellness one of my true passions--what started as a sports fanaticism in my youth quickly evolved into an obsession with wanting to know how to achieve peak performance, be it in an athletic competition, artistic performance or everyday activity. Also, after five years teaching teenagers how to appreciate Shakespeare in classrooms, I've discovered much prefer teaching adults in gyms, outdoors and online! (Though I still do teach English Language classes from time to time...) When the COVID-19 pandemic first shut the doors of gyms and studios all over the world, I, like many of you, was struggling to find ways to keep active while stuck at home; I can only imagine how difficult it must be for those of us who did not regularly exercise before these drastic changes. That's why, in the months where I was not at my gym, I dedicated myself to learning, certifying myself, and growing my expertise in dynamic ways of working out outside of the gym, including TRX, Stick Mobility, and the movement system I'm most excited to share with the Soul Academy family: Animal Flow. This quadrupedal, bodyweight-based program is, in my opinion, one of the most incredible ways to exercise I have ever come across and has led both myself and my clients to accomplish fitness goals initially thought impossible. Hi! I'm Emily and I help people reduce stress, get unstuck, and wake-up to their lives using Mindfulness Meditation! I am a fully qualified Mindfulness Teacher and I hold a MSc in Mindfulness-Based Interventions from the School of Psychology at University College Dublin. I am also a member of the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland (MTAI) where regularly attend 'Mindfulness in Action' meetings with other members to discuss ways to promote diversity and inclusion in our field. I adhere to the standards set down by the MTAI including regularly attending meditation retreats, teacher-trainings, and supervision. I believe that a healthy mind helps create a healthy body, and vice versa. I am passionate about where neuroscience meets Mindfulness and 'how' it actually works, debunking the myths about Mindfulness, and most of all, using Mindfulness as a therapeutic tool for stress and anxiety. Mindfulness is not a fix-all pill but we can get closer to the root of a lot of our stress by learning how to not expel so much energy pushing away the bad and holding onto the good in our lives. In other words, we can reduce stress by changing how we RELATE to the stress. Additionally, I am stoked about neuroplasticity and resilience! We CAN do something differently. We can train the mind the same way we can train our bodies! We ALL have the capacity within us to cultivate this skill, all we need is an open-mind, a willingness to show-up, and consistency. My intention is to give back to the community by making Mindfulness as accessible as possible and providing individuals with tools for better managing many aspects of their lives including work, relationships, and self-care. Since finishing the masters program in 2019, I have worked with diverse populations including youth, seniors, Psychologists, Corporate businesses, and folks recovering from addictions. I came into this field after discovering the extensive psychological research suggesting the benefits of using Mindfulness as a therapeutic tool during my BA in Psychology. In 2014 I started cultivating a daily meditation practice and began seeing how stuck I was in all sorts of automatic and unhealthy habits, repeating cycles, and maladaptive coping mechanisms that I had never seen before. I quickly realized, 'Wow! This stuff works and there's a lot of work to be done!' Since then my Mindfulness journey has been one of cultivating compassion, personal healing, and self-development. Mindfulness has not only changed my life (and continues to) but has changed the lives of people around me; when we resource ourselves we have a greater capacity to help support others. I am certain that there is space for fun, humour, silliness, and tons of honesty within Mindfulness training. I believe that connecting with my clients and sharing our human-ness together is the magic that can support us both. We are truly in it together; we ALL (including me) have minds that have minds of their own and we can do something about it! I offer Mindfulness training both 1-to-1 and in groups. I facilitate Drop-in Mindfulness sessions, 4-week Introductory Mindfulness courses, and the ‘Gold Standard’ of Mindfulness training which is the heavily researched 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course. Having endured back pain and imbalances from scoliosis surgery for many years, and finding healing through a committed Pilates practice, I am inspired to help people transform their lives through Pilates. There is nothing quite like the feeling of empowering bodies and influencing them to be their best version through educated movement. When I became a Comprehensive Pilates instructor, I decided to pursue my dream of owning a studio and I opened Infinite Wellness. My studio is located in the heart of downtown Kingston and is a Pilates studio that offers small group classes in mat, reformer, and barre, as well as private training. I love sharing Pilates and supporting my clients as they grow and learn on their own personal journeys.
